Scout Show Wrap-up

I want to thank everyone that was able to come out for the great job they did with the setup and tear down. We were one of the 1^st groups in, and the 1^st or 2^nd group out at tear down time. This was the best year as the wagon was ½ way home to Corsicana at 3:45 and by that time I was unloaded at Camp Wisdom and on my way home. Much different from the years before where it was starting to get dark before we were started home.

We had lots of traffic though out the day with lots of questions and oos and ahh’s .

Let’s get ready for a good meeting June the 12^th at Camp Wisdom with some blacksmithing in the morning and maybe a lunch as it looks as we will have some visitors.

Scout Show – May 8th

Setup the chuck wagon (no Canvas), setup display tables with blacksmithing items & foundry items, setup display table with highland books and stuff.

We will be talking taking questions and promoting the programs, and recruiting.

Anyone who can come out even for a little bit will be great, especially around setup and tear down time.

Scout show runs from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm, We can start setting up at 7:00 AM.

We are working out the exact time that we will meet and were we will meet at this time.

If what I am saying is different from the meeting please let me know as I was not able to be there, and this is from the discussions I have had lately with a few people.

We also need to get a roll call of who will be at scout show and what time you can come out and help a little.

I know some have finals on Sat., (why they would do this I have no clue), just so we can see who all can come help.

An Advisors Note – Jan. 2010

I would like to take the time to thank everyone for their work and support this past year youth and adult.

We look towards the new year as a year of growing for crew 1298 and a new chapter in our book.

February 2010 marks the 10th anniversary of Venturing Crew 1298 (if my math is correct), 2010 also marks 100 years of BSA. We have the Fort Worth Western Heritage Celebration set for January 16th, Highland Ball has been set for March 20th, please see the linked pages for more details on these events.. We also have the Feed the Troops comming soon in San Antonio, I do not have a date, but once I do will let everyone know. I am sure we will have more on the calendar but those are the ones that I know of at this time.

This coming year I would challenge every youth and adult to recruit 1 active youth member we need to grow our youth membership.

Please remember we meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month at Camp Wisdom, the meeting will happen at 1:00pm, however most times people will arrive early to blacksmith talk and just have a good time.

The next meeting will be January the 9th.

Fort Worth Live Stock Show Opening

Time: 8:00 AM Sharp

We will meet at Camp Widsom at 7:00 AM and caravan over to Two City Place in Fort Worth, Texas. We will have blacksmithing and the chuckwagon setup.

Winter Activity (cancled)

Christmas is Friday the 25, Dec And assuming you survive finals, food fun ,fellowship ect.
Lets plan on meeting at wisdom on Sunday the 27th,
Set up camp & programs with a meal Sunday evening.

I’ll bring Chuck Wagon & Cooking Gear
We have two Large Tents at camp to set up that sleet 4 to 6 ea & I have another large tent sleeps 4 to 6
We will need a ring out of all who intend to come & what kind of activities you want to do.

Some suggestions would be:
Work on the Blacksmith Shop, Assist Tony with repairs to Camp Wisdom, ??????.
It wont be all work, but we should try to do some service & finish up some Venturing Requirements or Merit badge work.
We can plan a menu when we all gather on Sunday, divide up the duties for each meal and so on.
This will be your camp so lets see some planing & talk about what you want to do.
The Trailer will be Limited to Two Adults & we will see about the health Lodge avaibility?
Lets advertise a little & grow a bit from last year, & Have some Fun
Need a indication of who all intends to join us on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & All go home Wednesday For New Years.

Parent and Pal Camp Wisdom

We will be doing a blacksmithing and foundry at Camp Wisdom on Saturday Oct 24th. We need to be there by 8:00 AM to get everything setup and ready to go for the day. We will also be setting up a demo chuck wagon also for the cub scouts. The event will last till around 5:00 PM. We need everyone possible to help out with this event as we have committed to council to help out. Please let us know if you will be able to attend or not, on the yahoo group e-mail list.

Carrollton Texas Santa Fe days

The Crew has a contract with the Santa Fe Days event organizers to feed the VIPs.
We are also going to set up the Blacksmith and Foundry shop. We can also set up a food vendor booth.

Please note that WFFA TV has become a sponsor & will be doing a special on Santa Fe
Days, this means a lot of exposure & publicity for the Crew.

Please mark Oct 9 & 10 on yer calender for the Crew. We will need eveyones help for this major event.
